About the role:*
This is a key role in a brand-new team which undertakes the development and delivery of digital solutions. You will lead or contribute to the scoping, development and implementation of new pieces of functionality for our council website and other web/browser based UI’s as well as take responsibility and accountability for delivering high-quality, high-performance Front End design implementations. You will have experience working in a DevOps team/agile environment or experience working in IT Service Delivery.

  • Plan, test and deliver on the agile development of service solutions to support the ongoing development of digital service delivery applying best practice in design, usability and development.
  • Develop new and amended front end components for use in the council’s websites and public digitally delivered services.
  • Transition of new digital developments into the operational team(s) or 3rd parties.
  • Web analytics implementation on all sites and support ongoing analysis of site statistics to identify technical improvements to the corporate website which will improve efficiency, navigation or usability of the front or back end.
  • Provide technical support to ensure that the public facing website functions and applications and customer journeys through these processes are running at all times and responding to problems by fixing or escalated the problem to relevant expert domains/suppliers as appropriate
  • Implement Front-End related changes within the councils Content Management Systems.
  • Create and improve new and existing products, platforms and transactions across the council.
  • Engage the wider web development community, identifying good practices we can adopt and sharing our experiences
  • Share knowledge of tools and techniques with the wider team, both developers and non-developers
  • When required, provide assistance to the 2nd-line support of applications and platforms, including occasional support outside of office hours.
  • Support the quality assurance process by establishing test processes and strategies within the team and in developing and delivering hands-on manual and automation testing of the council’s web services, applications and interfaces
